Mapajo is a community based ecolodge, fully owned and operated by the indigenous communities of the Quiquibey River in the Pilon Lajas Biosphere Reserve and its Indigenous Territory, in part of the Amazon area. The profits are used to finance small community projects and improve the families quality of life.

DAY 1. LA PAZ / RURRENABAQUE  / MAPAJO

Flight to Rurrenabaque, boat trip in the Beni and Quiquibey Rivers, entering the Pilon Lajas Biosphere Reserve.  Afternoon hike in the “Mapajo Trail” an hour boat trip upstream the Quiquibey river and then hike in the forest, with options to see mammals and birding. (L, D)

DAY 2. QUIQUIBEY RIVER / MACAW TRAIL

Boat trip in the Quiquibery River, with good chances to see alligators, turtles and lots of birding. Lunch on the beach and afternoon hike in the “Macaw Trail”, seeing 7 different species of palm trees, a salt lick where mammals go and nests of macaws in the trees. (B, L, D)

DAY 3. RAFT ADVENTURE / COMMUNITY OF ASUNCION

Trek in the Rosarion river to start a nice log raft adventure going down to the lodge, the local guide will teach you how they transport themselves in the rivers. Afternoon cross cultural exchange experience with the community of Asuncion del Quiquibey. (B, L, D)

DAY 4. MAPAJO / RURRENABAQUE  / LA PAZ

Trip to Rurrenabaque in boat, flight to La Paz with both transfers.
